Tanzanite is a blue to violet variety of the mineral zoisite with trace elements of vanadium. It is only found in Tanzania, hence the name, in a very small mining area, approximately 7km by 2km. In its natural state it can appear reddish brown to clear and needs to be heat treated to removed the ‘veil’ of brown to bring out the blue-violet hues. Tanzanite is an immune booster that can encourage regeneration of the skin and hair.
